Herb Kay's S.O.S. System
  February 1, 2010
"I'm Herb Kay and the most important thing to know about me is that I'm not going to lie to you or pull your chain. Ever. In my S.O.S. Guides, I give you, well, guidance, in a straight-talking and step-by-step way. The website offers the "advice side" of my system. Here, in my blog, I'm going to dig a little deeper and get a little grittier. That's the opinion side of my system. Will I say something that might shock you? Maybe. Will I ruffle some feathers? Perhaps. Will you close the page with some food for thought? Absolutely."

The Herb Kay Way is the straight forward, never-mince-words way. Check out Herb's latest blog on your money, your career, your debt, the economy and the world we live in.

For this Party - Three's a Crowd

I can't help but think that now would be a great time for a third party to rise up in America.
I say this because it is becoming increasingly clear to me that the parochial interests of
the two major parties, far outweigh the national good - and it is time to clean house so to speak. You need look no further than the spiraling federal and state budget deficits to understand that things are out of control.

Democrats are elected by their constituents to redistribute wealth.  Make no mistake about it,
when you cut through the obfuscation, that is what the party is all about.  Through higher taxes
on the "wealthy" as they perceive that to be, they give that money to their primary supporters -
namely poor minority members (as opposed to wealthier members of those same groups who eschew this sort of thing once they are the ones paying the taxes), trade unions, and trial lawyers. Added to the taxes are regulations - all favoring again, their primary constituency.

As for the other party - republicans talk a great game but don't deliver on the goods.  I mean, how many times are we going to fall for the same joke?  Oh, they talk about lower taxes and regulations and indeed somewhat better than democrats on this, but once in office they have consistently failed to do anything about spending – whatsoever!  Why?  Because they, like all in the political class, quickly realize that traditionally, the easiest way to get reelected is to buy votes.  Give away free stuff to people that they aren't directly paying for in any way (that they perceive) and you will have no shortage of people lining up for benefits.

I like to say that republicans spend money like drunken sailors and democrats spend money like drunken sailors on crack.

But every so often in the history of the world, not just the US, things become so ruined by
the status quo that a leader arises to really shake things up.  Sometimes those leaders are
great - like Jefferson and Washington.  Other times they are evil - like Hitler and Lenin.  I think
that here in America, with a diverse and multicultural population, the odds are very good that
this leader, which I truly believe will emerge, is going to be great and good.  I am looking forward to see who emerges and what the movement looks like.  I know it has to happen because those we have now seem absolutely incapable of getting things right.

The time for change - real change - has come.
